Phase 2 - Connecting our Residents/Guardians
As operations at Squeaker Farm commence we will continue to establish partnerships with Behavior Health Organizations, addiction treatment facilities, & crisis centers to find the right candidates for working & living on site. As our residents care for the dogs and assist running the shelters, they help strays become pets & the lonely become loved.
The Squeaker Foundations’ intent is to provide a place for these individuals to live and heal at no cost while working at Squeaker Farms™.
There’s a constantly growing number of animals in need of homes & care, which is met with the need for resources & volunteers. Animal assisted therapy as a method of addressing trauma has been proven effective in both accredited studies & personal accounts of people in active recovery.
We as members of society have watched friends & peers who struggle with depression, and have seen that manifest in the form of anorexia, self-mutilation, substance abuse, rage, gambling, promiscuity, etc -some of them we’ve lost too young to either suicide or overdose. More and more people around us are generally “not okay” and either don’t realize it, or are afraid to admit it. There’s a stigma attached to asking for help, and options often feel limited when someone does. Sometimes a change of perspective and time to heal is critica, but it can be difficult to find the right environment to so that safely. Our desire to help people in need is what has led us to the idea for Squeaker Farms™, & the Squeaker Foundation seeks to create opportunity for growth & healing at no cost to our residents.
